Tessa Traeger
British still life photographer Tessa Traeger is known throughout the world for her important photographic works. One of her most successful projects was “A Gardener’s Labyrinth”, for which she took portraits of 50 of the most influential British horticulturalists and artists together with their inspirational gardens. Commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery, the images represent a fantastical colour dance of botanically perfect nature.
Working only with a large format camera, Traeger’s picturesque compositions offer unique perspectives on flower-laden gardens. She bathes the harmonic blend of floral diversity in a soft light, celebrating it as a flawless form of art. The famous, historic landscapes and cottage gardens of England are documented in a wonderful flowing structure, which takes shape in every season.
Tessa Traeger’s photographs over the last four decades belong to the classics of still life photography and are represented in some of the world’s leading collections, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, and the National Library in Paris.
