BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Artist Mikhail Porollo is a perfectionist of aesthetics and form. His spectacular architectural series is set in Europe, where he captures domes’ magnificent architecture from below. The domes’ geometric harmony is ornamented by the fantastical balance of light, colour and symmetry. Porollo presents symmetrical patterns in complete unity and gives them a natural lightness. Decoration and detail come together in a game of material and colour.

Porollo’s series “Perfection of Form” comprises more than 60 photographs, which present classical architecture from art noveau styles to the beginnings of modernity. The extensive project features not only domes, but also museums and other prestigious buildings.

Raised in the North Caucasus in Russia, Porollo studied at the South African College of Photography. Following artistic series in Namibia and South Africa, he decided to focus on Belgium and Western Europe.
